My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the late Susan Magara upon the loss of their daughter.
Susan’s death comes not long after several women were abducted and killed in Entebbe and other parts of the country. I have opined before that the insecurity our country is experiencing is a classical symptom of a much larger problem: the breakdown of the state.
Those that were alive in the early 70s will remember that as the Obote regime began to lose grip of the country, a situation very similar to what we are experiencing evolved. The same goes for the fall of Amin and all other regime changes we have had in the country.
As we mourn and pray for the family of the late Magara, my hope is that we as Ugandans will wake up to the signs of the times, stand up and quickly participate in bringing about the change we would like to see.
It is no longer enough to stand by and let history repeat itself. I hope that we can all put the interests of our country before party or self and demand for a better tomorrow today.
May Susan find rest in the bosom of the Almighty.
H.E Y.K Museveni also issued a statement on the kidnap and murder of Susan Magara. “The gaps we have been having in the towns have been lack of cameras and unregulated sale of mobile phone SIM cards to people without electronic identity cards,” he stated.
He went on and also mourned the late; “Friends and Abazukulu (grandchildren), I tweet to convey condolences to Mutabani (son) Magara and family on the brutal murder of our grand-daughter, Susan Magara.
